Vanishing Courtesy

Picture of The Day Improper act on the dinner tabel! LOL!
When asked what are differences between men and animals, we could simply answer - We, men can think. At the time being, I could still agree with it but I might have to change my perspective a century to come.

Good manner starts at home. It doesn't matter how well-educated is a person, if he/she is not courteous in his/her society - it'll all come down to NADA. I don't know about the rest of you teachers/educators out there, but I prefer a slow (learner), but well-mannered students to smart but rude students. To me, if they are impolite to others, they're as well stupid as an ass.
Here, I'd like to share some random cases of vanishing courtesy I've seen in the society today:

1. Driving slow on the right lane. It'd be worse if the car on the other lane is also slow, and you desperately need to overtake!
2. Waitress clearing the tables seconds right after the customers had the last bite (this happened to me and a bunch of friends at Pizza Hut, Wisma Sanyan @ Sibu yesterday. The staff apologized only after I cynically talked about her rudeness. She even reasoned her action and kept saying we shouldn't take the matter further as she has already apologized. We just headed for the door leaving her talking to our hands.)
3. This happens at most schools in Malaysia. Not greeting the teachers they pass by, let alone to show respect in classroom while teaching & learning.
4. The salesgirls at many departmental stores would angrily fold or arrange back the clothes that you picked to have a close look/try-on.
5. It angers me the most when people keep saying that government officials are rude. Because most of my personal encounters wth impoliteness happened at non-government spots. At the airport for example, especially AirAsia check-in counters (and on board) mostly.
6. Spitting and littering - purposedly, at public areas.
7. Not giving away seats to the elders. Do you know that the seats for the disabled must be cleared for them at all times? Yes, ALL TIMES! And at the zebra-crossing line, if you are driving or are on a vehicle, you are supposed to stop when there are people want to cross the road? Instead, the passers by tend to stop and wait until the road is cleared of any moving vehicles to go across.

A lot still happening around.. and what's yours? I would love to know/hear from all of you ;-)
