All In A Week Of The Man

I almost can't believe that it's nearing weekend today and the peak of the Holy Week is just around the corner. I have to admit that I'm not a frequent church-goer here in Sibu due to personal reasons, but Holy Week or Triduum never fails to touch me to the core of my heart.

To some who do not know me well might wonder, of all topics I can blog about, why this?
To those who know me, they know that I talk on my religion and stuff, every now and then.
And to answer on the former wonder, I just feel that I want to share my humble knowledge on my faith and belief in this post.

I profess my faith and belief to Christianity not because of the feel of obligation to do so, but because of what The Man had done to us mere human, just to save each soul from the slavery of sin.
I do not know Him and I have never met Him. I knew about Him through the bible classes, in which every step He took, every miracle He performed and every live & soul He touched - were illustrated and told beautifully. That's how I fall in love with Him. It's a great wonder in oneself to have such feeling on someone whom she's never met, and yet she feels closely bonded to Him. It's a mutual feeling that no one can ever put well into words, and it's unconditional. I can never be grateful enough for what He has done to me for all these while.

Holy Week is a great opportunity for us to reflect on ourself and to repent. Personally, it's a time for me to rekindle my relationship with Him and to put all the missing pieces back into my jigsaw puzzle. Learning about Jesus' life especially during His final agonizing journey to the cross, always makes me stumbled upon words and chocked myself to tears, for what He has done to us were truly magnificent.
Let's recall on that.....

On that Sunday, He entered Jerusalem (on a back of a doney) triumphantly. The people welcomed Him like a King and threw coats and palm leaves on the ground for the donkey to walk over, just as a red carpet would be put on the ground for a King or Queen today.
As Jesus approached the Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it. (Luke 19:41)

Triumphal Entry

From Bethany to Jerusalem

On Monday, he chased the money changers out of the Temple.

On Tuesday, He preached and taught in Jerusalem. Here was when He told of the parables of ten virgins, the two sons and parables of the talent (correct me?).

On Wednesday, He spent time with His disciples.

It all started on Thursday. He knew who was going to betray Him. The Last Supper, Washing of the Feet, Peter denied Him three times and the arrest - it all took place on that day (Maundy Thursday).

Luke 22: 19-20
And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying,
"This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."
In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying,
"This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you."

Washing of the Feet

On Good Friday, He stood trial before the priests and Pontius Pilate (a Roman Gorvener). Eventhough Pilate could not find any wrong in Jesus, He was still sentenced to death by crucifixion.

"Crucify him! Crucify him!"

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him. They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). He was crucified next to a thief.

Later that day after having been beaten and mocked Jesus was crucified. He died in the afternoon.

On Saturday, Jesus rested in the tomb. In the first three Gospel accounts this was the Jewish Sabbath, which provided appropriate symbolism of the seventh day rest.

And lastly, it was on Easter Sunday that Jesus rose from death. Jesus had told the disciples before he was arrested that he would be crucified and on the third day he would rise from the dead. Sunday was the third day from Good Friday.

This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.
1 John 4:10

Again, I'd say - whatever He has poured unto me, I could never be thankful and grateful enough to Him. His miracle on me is always a wonder that makes me love Him even more unconditionally and irrevocably.

"You don't know Him, but you love Him very much and very greatly".
